Douala, Cameroon

Douala is situated on the Wuori River estuary and is the largest city in Cameroon. It is a major port and a commercial and transportation centre handling most of the country's exports (chiefly cocoa and coffee).

Douala developed as a centre of the slave trade after the Portuguese arrived in 1472.
