Ogi Sado Isl Japan

APAN’S TREASURE ISLAND The Ogi Peninsula in Minami-Sado (southern Sado) boasts a striking coastline formed by more than three million years of volcanic activity. While the entire island of Sado is listed as a Japanese Geopark, the 10-mile Sado Ogi Coast is a Japan National Monument and Scenic Site. Ogi itself is home to Kodō, the island’s famous resident drumming ensemble, and is known for its taraibune, wooden tub-shaped boats originally used for collecting seaweed, shellfish and other treasures of the sea.
